Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

ERP is a process by which a company (often a manufacturer) manages and integrates the important parts of its business. An ERP management information system integrates areas such as planning, purchasing, inventory, sales, marketing, finance and human resources.

At its most basic level, ERP software integrates these various functions into one complete system to streamline processes and information across the entire organization. The central feature of all ERP systems is a shared database that supports multiple functions used by different business units.

Examples of ERP system modules include: product lifecycle management, supply chain management (for example purchasing, manufacturing and distribution), warehouse management, customer relationship management (CRM), sales order processing, online sales, financials, human resources, and decision support system.

Microsoft has released Dynamics NAV 2017 in October 2016, the latest version of the ERP solution also known as Navision, which contains a wide range of new features.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 is a complete ERP. Since its inception, the developers behind the ERP solution focused on simplicity and innovation in the product design.

The new updates of Dynamics 2017 are:

  1. Mobile App and web client

Every time Microsoft releases a new version of Dynamics NAV the solution brings further improvements and new functionalities with it. Among the more serious improvements is the mobile app and web client which in NAV 2017 has become so effective that you can completely do without the Windows client.

  1. Power BI

The improved Power BI integration will probably change reporting as we know it. In Dynamics NAV 2017, it has become significantly easier to connect Dynamics NAV and PowerBI. With automatic refresh, you are also sure to constantly see the most recent data.

This makes a lot of sense. Users previously had to switch applications to see their data, graphically illustrated with advanced reporting capabilities. Now they can stay in a single application and choose which tiles of an existing Power BI dashboard.

  1. E- Everything

The new Dynamics NAV 2017 features in finance make it easier for your customers to pay invoices online by including hyperlinks to payment services, such as PayPal. You can even provide PayPal Standards payment links in invoices, supporting multiple ways of accepting payments, including credit cards and PayPal accounts.

  1. Office 365 Experience

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 features many improvements in functionality from Office 365 integration to finance enhancements.

In the 2017 version, Dynamics NAV works seamlessly with Office 365, which means you can easily create customers, vendors, quotes, and invoices, all without leaving Outlook. Sounds simple enough, but this seamless experience means that you can save time, increase accuracy, and offer your customers an improved experience.

With effortless navigation between your Dynamics NAV data and your Office tools – for example, Outlook, Microsoft Bookings, or Excel, you can easily manage business interactions with your customers and vendors without performing double data entry across your various productivity tools
